This is the authentic France that you might have thought no longer exists—filled with breathtaking scenery and exquisite local produce. The region is renowned for its Armagnac, wine, and hearty cuisine. You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time, enjoying a gentler atmosphere. Single-track roads take you through sweeping landscapes, impressive undulating fields of sunflowers and vineyards, and lush grazing pastures adorned with wildflowers and hedgerows rich with hawthorn and honeysuckle. Charming little villages enhance the landscape with quintessential French appeal. Flower boxes and terracotta planters overflow with vibrant geraniums, while the pale yellow stone buildings exude character and architectural beauty. For centuries, artists have been drawn to this region for its clear skies and consistent sunshine, along with the unique light that serves as a primary attraction for painters. Guests will stay at the magnificent Château de Goas, a historic French estate with foundations dating back to the Middle Ages. Experience the peace, serenity, and beauty of this magical chateau, complete with a lovely forest and lake, perfect for a leisurely stroll after a day of painting. There is even an onsite swimming pool. The chateau features twelve elegantly decorated bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, along with living rooms, a pool room, and a library that are ideal for relaxation. Daily tuition from the distinguished artist Neil Pinkett, along with all meals—including soft drinks and wine—are included. All meals are prepared by a chef using locally sourced ingredients, and there will be opportunities for wine and Armagnac tasting at a local vineyard.

Samantha
Samantha has lived in France for many years; she fell in love with the Gascony region and settled there with her family. She has a passion for art and architecture, as well as everything French! The beautiful chateau where she hosts the holiday is near her home, and after meeting Neil Pinkett, she felt he would be the perfect tutor for this oil painting course.

Location
Your painting week in Gascony is based in the town of Gers, with Toulouse being the nearest airport. The Château de Goas, built by the Comtesse de Beaumont, is an impressive estate set within 6 acres of land featuring ancient oaks, statues, and a small chapel. With its towers, windmills, and ancient wine cellar, the Château stands as an authentic remnant of French history and reflects the unique rural tradition of the region.
The château is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Toulouse Blagnac Airport. A complimentary transfer from Toulouse airport is included; please let us know your flight details once you have booked.
Your tutor for the week of 31st May will be the renowned painter Neil Pinkett, one of Britain's foremost landscape painters, whose work has been exhibited in galleries across the UK. Neil works in oil and excels at capturing mood, intensity, and light.
Your tutor for the week of 14th June will be the experienced oil and acrylic painter and tutor Tony Parsons, who enjoys painting en plein air whenever possible and is fascinated by light and water. He has discovered that teaching has allowed him to gain more insight, as it compels him to distil his ideas into clarity before sharing them.
Both are experienced teachers for both beginner and advanced artists, and as the groups are small, there will be ample opportunity for individual feedback and coaching.
